Astonishing Ant-Man #11 Review

It seems like it was such a long time since issue 10 came out! This series has been a blast to read and I always dread waiting a month to read the next issue. As usual we get our one page recap, and I prefer this method as opposed to having the characters doing it in the dialogue throughout the story. It really helps keep the flow of the book moving along at a good pace.

So we pick up with Scott and Cassie getting arrested by Blake Burdick who is Scott's Ex-Wife's new husband. Scott tells Cassie not to talk and he takes the fall for the whole caper.
Scott goes to prison and his powers are suppressed thanks to an invention by Tony Stark (that bastard!). He tries to fit, but it doesn't go so smoothly.
We cut back to Cross and we see his son in a hospital bed with this face all bandaged up. It turns out he is still alive after his uncle Crossfire blasted the little bastard in the face like Dick Cheney on a hunting excursion.

Speaking of Crossfire, he walks in and informs Cross that he has Hijacker, who was the getaway driver for Ant-Man and they find out that Ant-Man has a lab. We know this won't be good for Scott, and I am sure that this will play out in future issues.

We cut over to Power Broker who swindled a lot of villains out of their money, and he is advising a panel of villains that he is working on a new travel booking app for villains called LAIR. He says it is for super villain headquarters and that he is testing one out now as we see what appears to be a sentinel in the background.

It turns out Cassie tracked him down and knocked that bastard out and flew off with him as we cut back to Scott in prison. He is eating his gruel and laying low. It turns out it is visitors day, and its Griz and MachineSmith!

Smith uses his powers to get Scott a good commissary supply to live comfortably in prison, since he won't allow them to bust him out. His boss and financier Ms. Morgenstern pays him a visit too. She was bummed that Scott never told her about his plan, making it seem like she wanted in on the action. We learn that she had to sell off all the assets connected to Scott's business to keep from taking a complete loss and lets him know she will be there for moral support.

The next visitor is Scott's ex girlfriend Darla who was responsible for Scott getting busted since she had her drone cameras following her for her reality TV show! She tells Scott that the show was a success, and that the viewers loved him on the show. It seems as if they were reconnecting and was just about to kiss when they get rudely interrupted by the guard.

Scott starts using his extra commissary funds to get more food and he shares it with the ants. It makes you feel bad for the guy since he can't communicate with them. We see him talking to a lawyer who he wants to take his case and he looks like he got roughed up pretty bad again. As the issue ends, we see that the lawyer is She Hulk. I was expecting Matt Murdock, but this makes more sense because they have history together. Nick Spencer as usual delivers a solid story that gave us a lot to build on even without a lot of action Nick Spenser along with Robbie Thompson and Ta-Nehisi Coates are on the short list of writers that can pull this off and keep the book interesting. The art as usual is great as well. All the faces are unique and consistent, something that DC needs to learn how to do. In all we get another solid issue that keeps me wanting to read more. If you are new to the series, I recommend getting issue #9 and #10 so you get the whole new arc from the beginning. You can also read the older issues on Marvel Unlimited to see if it is a series you would like to follow from the beginning, and if you have Marvel Unlimited you should read the previous volume well. You won't regret it!
